Helping Out
Since our one year anniversary, 50% of our profits go to the Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter.
This shelter provides animal rescue and humane care that protect the health and public safety of the people and animals in Santa Cruz County. They currently rescue and assure safe, temporary shelter, veterinary and humane care for approximately 6,000 stray, unwanted, abandoned, mistreated, neglected, and injured animals each year. The shelter was started in July of 2002. At first, the Santa Cruz and Watsonville shelters were separate, but they connected in November, 2004. The two shelters now work hand in hand to help the animals in our community. They offer a wide variety of services including veterinary care, adoptions, dog licensing, humane education, foster care, emergency rescue, spay and neuter, and transfers to over 50 partner groups. They also host a fantastic volunteer program including over 1,000 active volunteers. Volunteers and foster care families provide thousands of hours of assistance to shelter staff at both locations. The shelter provides 24-hour animal rescue service and is Santa Cruz County’s only full service, open-admission animal shelter. SCCAS provides two locations for owners to find and recover their lost pets and adopt new animal companions. These shelters are tangible evidence of Santa Cruz County’s commitment to animal welfare.
